The hotels below ...

are not all Aswan has to offer. But these are hotels which I have seen and which I think to be good enough to be mentioned on this website. If you would like to read more opinions about all hotels in Aswan, please click the Aswan-hotel-website from tripadvisor.

To help you with your decisions you will find links below of the hotels which are - each in their category - acceptable. If you would like to pay prices lower than you would get at the receptions you can ask Waleed: he is very good in negotiating!

But: since about 2008 hotels give better prices in the internet than to travel agents like Waleed asking for independent travelers. Therefore our guests recommended to me:
TIP: book via a booking site (we used Otel.com)
another guest recommended: www.hotels.com
or for (cheap) hostels: hostelbookers or hostelworld

Warning: a guest also made bad experiences in the internet with a website offering hotelrooms:
"Travelers who booked hotel rooms prior to July 14th should expect their reservation to be cancelled by one of our suppliers. Please check with your hotel to confirm. Reservations may be canceled even after receiving confirmation. Travelers who find their reservations are canceled may seek a refund by submitting this form (...) to the bankruptcy court in Florida ..."

5-Stars-Hotels

Movenpick
Most praised from all hotels in Aswan according to trip advisor.

Old Cataract (being renovated at the moment)
"The long and illustrious saga of the Old Cataract began in 1899. The clientele has been always a mix of the famous figures including Sir Winston Churchill, Agha Khan, King Farouk, and Lady Diana. The hotel served the inspiration for novelist Agatha Christie, who went to wirte "Death on the Nile"..."

4-Stars-Hotels

Basma Hotel
"Set only 15 minutes walk from the Nile Cornish and local markets, the Basma Hotel is the ideal base for either pleasure or business or both. ..."

Isis Island Hotel
"Exotic resort in the middle of the Nile on an island near the center of Aswan. 28 acres of landscaped gardens with magnificent views of the Nile ..."

3-Stars-Hotels

Marhaba Palace Hotel
"The hotel was built in 2003/ 2004. We are located on the Cornice El Nil. Our roof garden and cafeteria has one of the finest views in all Aswan, where you can see the glorious sunsets over the Nubian desert. We are close to the colorful local markets ..."

Isis Corniche Hotel
"Isis Corniche Hotel was OK. Location was good, as was the breakfast. The views and the pool were nice. The rooms were comfortable enough but this was definitely not a 4/5 star hotel and not worth the normal price they charge. TIP: book via a booking site (we used Otel.com) to get a good rate (1/3 of the normal price). Unfortunately, for our extra night we had to pay normal rate."
